My Favorite Verses When Life Gets Unpredictable

We’ve all had moments when things shift, change, or seem uncertain. It’s in moments like these that I’m grateful to have the biggest anchor of all: God and His Word. When there seems to be no steady place to hold on to, His Word is always constant, always true, and always available.

Here are some of my favorite verses for when life gets unpredictable—which will happen more often than we think.

Psalm 23

No matter where life takes us, Jesus will lead us and hold our hand through it all. Even in the middle of trials, pain, doubts, and fears, He will provide a place of rest for us. He will give us a place to feast and enjoy life with Him. As The Passion Translation says, “Fear will never conquer me, for you already have!”

Jeremiah 29:11

I always remember the part of this verse that speaks about how God has good plans for us. But the part that has struck me recently is that this verse also says He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us. God will never bring harm upon His children. He will never plot or scheme against us or put us in a situation that will hurt us. He is a good Father, and He has good plans for us.

Isaiah 41:10

In the Bible, the right hand symbolizes power and authority and is a symbol of victory and deliverance. This verse states that God will uphold us with His righteous right hand. God tells us we need not fear because He holds us together with His power and authority. As ruler above all, He cares for us deeply and personally. He delivers us and gives us victory. And He is just and faithful as He does so. He delivers us from fear, and He sustains us.

2 Timothy 1:7

This is one of the first verses I ever memorized. I love how the King James Version puts it: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Think about that. He gives us a sound mind. When there are a million swirling thoughts in our head, when our mind is divided in a thousand different directions, God gives us a sound mind. He gives us His peace in our thoughts. And all this is through His great power and love.

Romans 15:13

He is a God of hope, and He fills us with joy and peace. There is nothing too big or impossible for God. As we go through life, He fills us with hope for the present and the future. He gives us joy to sustain us. And not only that, but He gives us His very Spirit to surround us throughout our lives. He isn’t far away—He is right here with us.

I pray that you are encouraged as you remember God’s words and faithfulness. He is constant and true, and when life shifts or changes, He remains.

Until next time,
Anna
